Grace Saves Me!!!

As I reflect upon the events of this past week, and look towards a new week, I thank God for His grace. If you have yet to read all about those recent events, “Devil, You’ve Just Made Me Mad!” and “Try As You Might, But I’m Covered By The Blood!“, then click the links above to read them. Those events, toppled by everything else I’ve endured in my short lifetime, some of which I’ve shared throughout the entirety of my blog and the rest will be shared in my upcoming memoir “How I Lost My Mind and Found My Life,” I know if it wasn’t for being clothed in the grace and love of God, I wouldn’t be here today. I’m sure you may have that same testimony after you’ve finished reading the articles.

“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” ‭‭(2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

With everything that’s happened in my life, it’s the grace of The Lord that kept me. When I lost my mind, it was the grace of God that helped me find my life. When I lost hope and tried to commit suicide, it was the grace of God that kept me alive. When I became overwhelmed with emotions of bitterness, anger, pain, frustration, depression and anxiety from the stressful tragedies in my life, it was His grace that saw me through those trying times.

Did you know that you’re covered by this same grace?

It’s true! You my friend are covered by God’s grace. It’s nothing that you’ve done to deserve it and it’s nothing you’ve purchased from a store. This beautiful thing called grace was given freely, though it came at a high price: Jesus had to die for our sins. So, what is grace, you may ask? If you haven’t already figured it out, the Bible defines grace as this:

“And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭3:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

As you can see, grace is a covering of love and protection from God. No matter what may come our way, nor the mess we may find ourselves in, it’s the grace of the Lord that keeps us, covers us and protects us from harm’s way. Though there’s a lesson in everything we do, it’s grace that allows the punishment to not be too harsh.

God, our Heavenly Father, loves us dearly! He created us out of the image of his own likeness. Just as any good parent, the Lord allows us to make mistakes and choose our battles, but in the midst of our “grown-ness”, it’s His grace that loves us back to where we belong. When the bruises occur from our life choices, it’s The Father who comes to rescue us and mend our wounds.

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” ‭‭(Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

This thing called grace is such a powerful tool. I’m glad the Lord allows us all to share in this as it keeps us going each and every day. Think of the choices in your life that you’ve made, or the unfortunate circumstances that happened to you or that you found yourself in. That thing should’ve killed you, caused you to lose your mind, end up in jail, hooked on drugs, or in a much worse situation than you’re currently in. Yet, it was God’s grace that saved you. Why, because you, my friend, are married in favor!

“and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” ‭‭(1 Peter‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.” ‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭125:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

I challenge you today to spend some time reflecting upon your life. Think about all those moments you didn’t think you were going to make it and start to thank God for His grace. Even if you’ve never prayed to Him, just know that there was somebody in your life praying for you. Whether it was at that moment, or a prayer that was prayed over your life many years ago by a grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, aunt, uncle, godparent, or whoever. You didn’t make it on your own. You made it because God saw to it. You are a walking miracle, and for that, you should praise God for the life you live!

Your life may not be perfect. Heck, it may not even be all good. That’s okay! The purpose is not to live for perfection but to accept the imperfections of right now. Just like you, I would prefer my life be in much better shape than what it is; however, through all that I’ve been through, I’ve learned to be content in the grace of now, trust my journey and know that in due time God will deliver me to that promised land. In the meantime, I make do with what I have and work towards the goals set before me.

I pray today that you understand that you have a special place in The Lord’s heart. You are covered by grace and it saves you daily. I pray that you stop stressing about the things of tomorrow and appreciate the things of today. By His grace, you’ve come a long way. I pray you find joy in where you currently are knowing that your latter days will be better than your past. Even if things look dim now, know that you are saved and loved by the grace of God. In Jesus name, I pray for you today and always, Amen. God bless you!

Sincerely with love,
