I’ve been touching a lot on seasons lately because I feel it in the atmosphere. 2018 is definitely a year/season of change! I truly believe things are shifting, changing and rearranging in each of our lives and if we want to capitalize on this magnificent favor from God, we must be willing to fight for it.
The will of God for us all is to live abundant lives working in our purpose or calling. In order to embrace our purpose, we must all take a look within ourselves. We are all called to do something with our lives, it’s just a matter of figuring out and praying about what exactly that “thing” is.
Our callings draw us down particular paths like: police officer, doctor, nurse, lawyer, fire fighter, mathematician, stylist, artist, singer, dancer, athlete, writer, pastor, technician, accountant, advisor, advocate, and the list goes on and on. Each one of our callings came from special gifts that were given to us by God. Through the Holy Spirit, He gave us these specific gifts/talents in order to make us capable of doing the things we are called to do. I’ve touched on this topic about our individual gifts and talents before. Please feel free to click here to get further details on how to figure out your special gift.
Unfortunately for us all, there’s someone who doesn’t want any of us to follow our callings nor utilize our gifts. In fact, this person doesn’t want any of us to have anything from God ever! He doesn’t even want us to have a relationship with God. This person is the true definition of a hater! He hates you and the very gift you possess! He works overtime, day and night, trying various ways to tear you down. This person wants to see you lose everything: your mind, your spirit, your energy, your self-value, your self-worth, your peace, your hope, your future, your love and your joy. He comes disguised as many forms: friend, family member, spouse, co-worker, frenemy, etc. He’s always ready for battle and is determined to win the war against you at all costs. So, what can you do when you have a hater constantly attacking your life?
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.” (1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT)
Yes, stay alert for the devil is always busy! He NEVER sleeps. Just as the above scripture says, the enemy is always lurking, looking around for someone to devour and destroy. This is why it’s pertinent for each one of us as God’s creations to fight and strive every day to have a relationship with God. Our peace, joy, happiness, self-worth, value, fulfillment, and abundance of blessings comes solely from God and it depends on us staying covered by Him. Trust me when I tell you, what He has to offer is truly worth fighting for.
““For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17 NLT)
With all the chaos in this world, knowing our worth and value is very important. A heavy price was paid long ago for us, so we must not take our lives for granted. Jesus died on the cross so that we may live abundantly. The enemy wants to destroy our peace, dreams, goals, destiny and our beliefs. It’s our job to not allow this to happen.
The way to fight through the attacks of the enemy is by prayer, staying in close relationship with God and by telling yourself positive affirmations every day. The enemy hates it when we do these things. By allowing God into our hearts and welcoming Him fully into our lives daily, we thwart the attempts and attacks from the enemy.
WARNING: CHOOSING GOD’S WAY COMES AT A COST!!!
If you’re truly ready to fight off the attacks of the enemy and want to walk into your best season, you’ll first need to have the right mindset. Secondly, you’ll need to have the right team of people surrounding you that will pray for you, motivate you and encourage you. Thirdly, you’ll need to be fully open and honest with yourself in order to embrace change. That may mean some people in your life may have to go, things that you’re doing will need to cease and the way you react to people will have to change.
You cannot move forward holding onto dead weight. You cannot expect God to do magnificent things in your life if you’re still stuck in the driver’s seat! You cannot park a new car in the driveway, if the old car is still occupying the space. If those metaphors don’t work for you, allow me to put it more boldly.
“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” (Luke 9:24 NLT)
God is trying to exist within your life, but he cannot move freely if you’re giving Him restrictions. You cannot expect to achieve goals and do amazing things, if you’re unwilling to do the work. You cannot ask God to change circumstances in your life, help you fight off the tempting attacks from the enemy, align you with the right people, then get mad at the process because it’s disguised as change and hard work. You cannot pray for the right relationships to come into your life, if you’re unwilling to let go of the wrong ones. Furthermore, you cannot expect to beat the enemy living life according to your own terms!!!
In the end, we all have to make a decision — do we want to do things our way or do we want to do things God’s way. The bottom line is that at some point, you have to choose whether you are in it to win it or whether you are out of the game. The game of life can be simple if you keep God first and at the center of everything you do. You just have to remember that your enemies don’t want you to do things God’s way for they know the consequences of following Christ.
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” (Romans 8:37 NLT)
You have the authority to choose which lifestyle you want to live and the people you want to see in it. Every morning God brings us a new day to try and get things right. It’s up to us to choose to fight for our lives. God’s love for us is undying and unconditional. Yet still, the enemy works tirelessly every day trying to attack us and turn us against God’s love. His love for us is perfect. This is why I say we must fight every day to keep our coveted relationship with Him. Just going to God whenever it’s convenient is not enough. We have to go to Him every single day.
I cannot stress it enough: you’re worth fighting for. Your sanity is worth fighting for! Your faith is worth fighting for! Your peace is worth fighting for! Your relationship with God is worth fighting for!!! Never let anyone, not even your own mind because that could be the voice of the enemy, tell you otherwise. Put in the work and fight for what’s yours!
I pray today that you understand that you are worth fighting for. I hope that you feel encouraged to fight for your life, your calling and your talents. You have a purpose in life! The enemy has no power. Allow yourself to focus on establishing a deep, serious relationship with God. Bond with Him and allow His presence and Holy Spirit to enter into your heart and change everything that is not of value in your life. God wants to use you and heal you, but you must allow this to happen. You were not meant to fight the enemy on your own. Allow God to take the lead and guide you in the steps of Jesus Christ and may you achieve wonderful things in your life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Sincerely with love,
